Listen to Kid Cudi and Eminem’s new collaboration “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady”

Image
Kid Cudi  is slowly but surely making his way back to the forefront. Just last April, he delivered  two new tracks  — “ Leader Of The Delinquents ,” and the Travis Scott-assisted “ The Scotts ,” which got a creative premiere via Travis Scott’s “concert” on Fortnite. In addition, “The Scotts” also helped to earn Cudi  his first number one debut  on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, he looks to keep that momentum going with another massive collaboration, this time with none other than reigning rap god  Eminem . Titled “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady,” the single looks to have been in the works as early as May, when  Kid Cudi  sent the Detroit legend a  fairly cryptic tweet . The big announcement was then made by  Cudi ’s daughter Vada via Instagram:

5 Things to Know About Maya Angelou's Complicated, Meaningful Life

Image
It’s only fitting that the first week of U.S. National Poetry Month in April coincides with what would have been the 90th birthday of the poet Maya Angelou, who died May 28, 2014, at the age of 86. But while she’s best known today for her writing — as the author of more than 30 books and the recipient of more than 50 honorary degrees — she had many different careers before becoming a writer, and all before the age of 40, as TIME pointed out in her  2014 obituary . Such jobs included: cook, waitress, sex-worker, dancer, actor, playwright, editor at an English-language newspaper in Egypt, Calypso singer ,  and cast member of the opera  Porgy and Bess.   In fact, her name is more of a stage name than a pen name; she was born Marguerite Annie Johnson in St. Louis in 1928, but in the 1950s came up with “Maya Angelou,” which is a  portmanteau  of sorts, by combining her childhood nickname and a riff on her then-husband’s surname. Nancy Williams: Easter confusion over bunnies, Bible and baskets

Image
Saw a funny card. Said since Easter is on April Fool’s Day this year, let’s have the kids find Easter eggs we didn’t hide. I laughed. If you’ve been that parent who was scrambling to do the middle-of-the-night bunny delivery, you get it. A friend who was with me said having kids look for nonexistent eggs is cruel and would be confusing to a child. Um … first of all, I wouldn’t really have my child look for eggs I didn’t hide. Probably. And second, Easter is pretty confusing anyway to wee ones. At least it was to my little girl mind way back then. We dyed eggs. For a long time, I thought it was because Jesus died, we "died" eggs. Actually I dyed pretty much everything I could find that would fit in the cups of vinegar-based coloring. My mom was mostly OK with it. In the name of science. String, socks, dollar bill, dinner roll, my finger, a crayon. My imagination-lacking sister said you can’t dye a yellow crayon, it’s already colored. My mother is largely to ...

PLANO, Texas  - Police are looking for the person who shot several people outside an apartment complex in Plano. One victim died at the scene. Tilley said the others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not yet said what prompted the shooting. But they believe it was an isolated incident and they think they know who the gunman is. Officers are still searching for the suspect.

Underground tunnels proposed for Houston flooding

Image
HOUSTON — After Hurricane Harvey, flood control became a biggie issue for Houston. On Tuesday, Harris County Flood Control District Officials approved a study that will look into the possibility of building massive underground tunnels to drain flood waters from bayous across Houston. “I’m for doing this study because they are at least checking it out and seeing if it's worth it see if it will work and they aren't just rushing into it,” Ethan Zierath said. Flood control officials say the idea is a bold solution to alleviating the chronic flooding that has plagued the Houston area. The study will cost about $400,000  and should be completed by October. “$400,000 doesn't equate to the amount of people who would be displaced,” Helen Lepien said. If the tunnel project gets a green light, it would displace and disrupt some people, but far fewer than any other proposed methods, like buying out homes in flood-prone areas. After living through a 500-year flood, thr...
